Earth Day at Hamden Hall

Karin was invited to review and critique the Earth Day sustainability projects at Hamden Hall Country Day School, an independant school for preschool to grade 12 students, along with architect Peter Coombs from Essex. The assigned project was a school campus with various buildings to be designed and modeled within a few days, incorporating various energy efficiency and other sustainable measures. Students had had mini-lectures from other local architects and had visited some notable sustainable buildings in New Haven as training for the exercise.

We used a mock LEED (Leadership in Energy Efficient Design) rubric to grade all projects. All projects received a LEED Gold or LEED Platinum rating!

Thank you to Hamden Hall for including us in this ambitious event!
